A small problem left unfixed leads to bigger problems. It says nobody cares - and that says a lot about a community. If nobody cares about the little things, then it must be okay to break more laws. Soon, criminal activity festers. Then property values decline. We must stand together and insist that our elected officials work with us to clean up problem areas of our city. We believe our Mayor and Council want to see our city improve. Let's be sure to support them and make them aware of areas that need fixing. We must all pitch in and do what we can to help our neighborhoods improve.
The City's Property Maintenance Ordinance can be viewed here. This ordinance includes the minimum requirements for residential occupancy limits, junk vehicles, swimming pool maintenance, hazardous trees, outdoor storage, home maintenance, and grass height. Penalties are also listed.
Owners of pit bulls and other breeds considered potentially vicious, must register their dog with the Lawrenceville Police Department. Lawrenceville's pit bull ordiance is here.
To report a quality of life problem, visit the Lawrenceville Police Department's on-line submission form. To see their newest Property Maintenance brochure, here. The Police Department's website is here.

Enforcement
Most of the enforcement efforts of the Quality of Life Unit begin with a notice of violation. The notice will advise of a date for a follow-up inspection. By ordinance, this follow-up inspection should be scheduled for three days following the initial notice of violation. the officers realize, however, that certain issues take more time and money and will work with the owner accordingly. Property owners have varying time limits, based on the nature of the violation, for bringing their property into compliance.
